About 11am Wed 22nd. Feb. a water pipe burst, flooding part of the building at the Riverside Center in Eagle Street housing the AAPT telephone exchange and the 3rd Party room for for most major ISP's in the Brisbane CBD where they house equipment for [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peering peering] and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Transit_%28Internet%29 IP Transit]. As a result of the flooding the power to that floor had to be cut off for safety causing a major Internet and telephone service outage. The Internet equipment went on to batteries which ran out about 1pm. Broadband and hosting services were restored about 5:30pm. |

Phone lines (Office and dialup modem in Brisbane) are still out of service as they are AAPT ISDN lines directly connected via fibre optic to the damaged Riverside exchange, and are expect to be restored before 5pm. Thurday 23rd. |
